May Day 2018
Centennial Square
May 1st, 4:00pm
Around the world workers gather to celebrate past victories and plan new campaigns to better the condition of the working class. Victoria joins this movement by celebrating it in different locations and venues each year. In 2017 workers gathered and marched around the Royal Jubilee Hospital to hearten the support service workers who were fighting for succession rights and job security. That battle has been won, partly due to the solidarity shown on May Day.
This year we look into the abyss of global warming, environmental collapse and militarism. All of these are working class issues and workers have a direct interest in peaceful and lasting resolution of these major threats.
We ask all workers and all citizens to join us for songs, speeches and food
